Dividing Curtain Technical information

Dividing curtain specifications/options:
Straight track to divide an area eg in half, thirds or quarters
Straight track with crossovers to divide an area where a net has to cross another existing net track (eg cricket net lanes)
U shaped track where the same curtain is used to divide a hall into different sizes
L shaped track which allows the net to be stored parallel to the wall in a pouch (for large spans this keeps the stored net close to the wall causing minimal obstruction)
All nets are manufactured oversize to allow them to hang properly
Sight screens can be sewn in to any height required (2m is normal)
Detachable sight screens can be provided to make cleaning easier
Any length, height normally at least 7.6m (to ensure track is above minimum height for Badminton)

Aluminium trackway
Our SpaceSpan aluminium trackway is a heavy duty extrusion intended for modern sports halls that will span up to 6m without support. The trackway is fixed to overhead beams or purlins by telescopic support brackets which are designed and manufactured to suit the requirements of each project. Wire rope supports can also be used where there are insufficient load bearing beams or purlins directly above the track enabling our trackway to be installed in virtually any position within a sports hall. We also supply cross overs to allow curtains to cross net lanes for example. With our trackway nets and screens can be positioned almost anywhere within a sports hall.

Our FreeRoll track runners are unique featuring ball bearings in each wheel. Compared to the plain bearings in most other systems this provides a much freer running net, less prone to jams and torn curtains or screens (often when a runner jams the momentum of the curtain being pulled out can result in the screen tearing or parting from the net). Nets are fixed to the runners with spring snaphooks to allow easy fitment but prevent the net coming off on its own.

Netting and sight screens
We supply netting in the following main sizes:
- 50mm (2") - for Badminton, Cricket, Tennis
- 25mm (1") - for Table tennis
- 19mm (3/4") - for Golf
- Solid mesh - for Archery

Dividing netting is made from 50mm, 25mm or 19mm white, green or blue polypropylene knotted mesh, non flame retardant as standard or flame retardant to BS5867 part 2 type B if required. Solid canvas sight screens can be are sewn into the bottom of dividing nets to any height though 2m high (above eye line to prevent distractions from another area of the sports hall) is most common. Higher sight screens or solid curtains are also available on request. Screens can also be supplied detachable with a removable velcro strip (useful if you need to wash the screens). Standard colours available are white, green or blue though some other colours are available on request and all canvas sight screens are and flame retardant to BS5867 part 2 type A.

Storage
Nets should be properly stored to prevent them lying on the floor and becoming a trip hazard. Nets are usually stored in a wall mounted bag or pouch or a bag or basket which can be winched to the ceiling (electrically or manually) to keep side walls clear if required.

Track and net specifications:
- aluminium extruded track weighs approx 2.2kg per linear metre
- 50mm (2") nylon net weighs approx 0.83kg per 10 square metres
- 25mm (1") nylon net weighs approx 1.2kg per 10 square metres
- 19mm (3/4") nylon net weighs approx 1.8kg per 10 square metres
- solid mesh net weighs approx 2.44kg per 10 square metres
- canvas sight screen weighs approx 3.4kg per 10 square metres
- coloured screen weighs approx 4.1kg per 10 square metre

Top Roll Curtain

The Top-Roll Gym Curtain is probably the neatest and most aesthetically pleasing dividing curtain available.
The curtain rolls on to a tube the width of the hall and is lowered electrically to form an effective divider.
This can even be installed so the curtain will roll-up through a 300mm (12") wide opening, storing above the
ceiling area to further enhance the aesthetics of your installation.

The curtain has a 9oz PVC mesh upper section welded to a solid PVC bottom section providing a full screen to divide the 2 areas. There is a weighted steel bar at the bottom which sits just above the floor holding the curtain flat and providing a good stop to prevent balls going under the curtain into the opposite area.

The curtain has no exposed wires or straps and the lift/lower motors are inside the top tube with limit switches set at installation to stop the curtain at the required position. All you do is press up for up and down for down and wait.

The Top-Roll diving curtain features:
- super quiet, synchronized internal tubular motors
- special roller assembly to provide extra smooth operation and wrinkle free fabric
- curtain upper section is 9oz vinyl coated mesh and is available in white, yellow, red, blue and black
- curtain lower section is available in 18oz or 22oz solid vinyl up to 2.4m high
- 18oz vinyl is available in black, marine blue, royal blue, beige, yellow, orange, red, white, grey, kelly green, forest green and maroon
- 22oz vinyl is available in royal blue, red and grey
- divider curtain has welded seams, fully padded bottom batten with no exposed hardware
- mounting assemblies allow for easy installation and leveling which adapts to steel or other structures
- fabric rolls within 350mm (14”) of ceiling or overhead for maximum clearance

To order please specify:
- height and width of curtain required
- mesh size and colour of net curtain
- sight screen height and colour
- height and description/dimensions of structure to which trackway is to be fixed

Pitch Dividing Systems

The pitch divider system allows large external playing areas to be divided with netting. The end posts are
normally fitted outside any perimeter fence to allow unrestricted use of the playing area. Pitch dividers are
ideal for segregating outdoor courts quickly and effectively whether tennis, basketball, netball or cricket.
This is a much heavier duty system than the cricket wicket divider and utilises 100mm square section posts
which are galvanised and then powder coated for durability. These can span up to 63m and are available in
2.7m, 3m and 3.6m heights.

Netting is 50mm x 2mm thick knotted polypropylene mesh which is very hardwearing. This is attached to a 4mm wire rope headline which when tensioned provides minimal sag. The netting should be 10% longer than the overall span to allow some gather and for it to sit properly on the ground.

Features:
- 100mm square end post with top pulley and cleats and eyebolts (for tieing the net)
- 100mm square winch post with top pulley and 100kg load brake type winch with detachable handle
- All posts sold as a set (1 winch post and 1 anchor post) and are available in 2.7m, 3m and 3.6m heights (above ground)
- 4mm cable headline with loop one end
- Snap hooks or stainless steel split rings for attaching the net to the top cable
- 6mm cord for tensioning the bottom edge and middle of the net to stop it billowing in the wind or alternatively 180mm steel pegs for securing the bottom of the net to the ground
- optional freestanding intermediate posts at 8m intervals for supporting heavier nets
- the end posts need to be set firmly in 1m3 concrete.

Rebound Boards

Rebound boards or dividing boards are installed in sports halls to segregate playing areas and are often fitted
along the same line as a dividing curtain.

Rebound boards can be used to create a dividing wall between different games eg five-a-side football, hockey, basketball courts or badminton and can be used to segregate areas for CV or resistance equipment, making a safe walkway, for enclosing storage areas along the sides of sports halls, or to create individual playing areas within a larger pitch eg creating five a side areas.

Rebound board panels fit to posts at each end which fit into sockets inserted into the floor. Sockets are required for each post and must be installed in the floor by a specialist. By using in line posts, corner posts, "T" joint posts and four way posts almost any combination of boards can be assembled to create the playing areas most suitable for the hall eg the rebates for the five a side goals pictured. Rebound boards can be removed simply from the posts by two people using the lifting handles, one each end, and wheeled away (each end plate has a small wheel at the bottom) to a storage area or put on a storage trolley. The posts can then be removed and caps fitted to the floor sockets to provide a flush playing surface.

Rebound board gate sections can be installed wherever you need an opening for transporting equipment or as a through way. Gates can be made in non standard sizes to suit particular requirements and all long gate sections have a wheel at the outer end to support the section.

Where hard balls are being used - such as in hockey - or where very heavy use is to be expected, protective metal strips - "Kick Plates" - can be fitted along the lower edge of the board and gate sections on one or both sides. We can also fit replacement panels for your existing boards. These will need your existing end plates fitted which we can arrange if required at an additional cost.

Features:
- Standard rebound board size 2.4m x 1.2m x 32mm including end plates
- Standard gate size 1.0m x 1.2m x 36mm without kick plates (a 1.4m wide gate is also available)
- In line posts, corner posts, 3 way or "T" posts or 4 way "X" posts sections to create whatever layout you need - posts are required between every panel or gate section, and at ends and corners.
- Socket for fitting in the floor including a flush fitting cap to leave a flush playing surface when the socket is not in use
- Standard colours blue or green but others are available as a special order
